REU Program - Application Instructions
Deadline for Applications: January 31, 2010



Applicants should be undergraduates with a major in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field. They should be current juniors (graduating in 2011), although sophomores with exceptionally strong backgrounds as well as seniors will be considered. Due to funding agency rules, only U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible to receive stipends and support for housing and travel costs under the DIMACS, DIMACS/DIMATIA, and Mathematics programs; however, foreign students enrolled at a U.S. university are eligible under the CCICADA program. Women, minorities, and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

To apply via the web pages, fill out the 2010 application form and click "send" at the end of the document. Then email (or send through regular mail to the address above) your personal statement, your transcripts, and a letter of recommendation to reu at dimacs dot rutgers dot edu.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

___ APPLICATION FORM, including information
    that we need to contact you. 
 
___ TRANSCRIPT (current transcript, unofficial
    okay, with grades through Fall 2009). 
 
___ SHORT STATEMENT (One page or less) explaining
    why you are interested in the program, what you
    hope to get out of it, and describing your
    academic and non-academic interests.
 
___ RECOMMENDATION LETTER from a faculty member (or
    graduate teaching assistant), preferably in
    mathematics or computer science, who can discuss
    your potential to successfully complete a research
    project. If the letter is included with the
    application, the recommender should seal it in a
    separate envelope; letters sent by email must be
    followed by a hard copy.  Include the name, phone,
    and email address of the faculty member on your
    application.
